Acne scarring

What is Acne scarring?

Acne scarring can be a very troubling problem which can be notoriously difficult to treat.

While it is impossible to remove the scars completely, treatments are available which can significantly improve the appearance of your acne scars. There are many different types of acne scars. Some are shallow, deep " ice pick scars" whereas others may be pigmented.

Acne Scar Treatment options are as follows

  • Dermaroller is effective in the treatment of "rolling scars". Dermaroller uses micro-medical skin-needling to stimulate your own collagen to regenerate and repair your skin naturally. Link to dermaroller page.

  • The OBAGI Nu Derm range is effective in the treatment of pigmented acne scars. These products are only available from a qualified physician. They contain prescription drugs such as hydroquinone 4% ( a bleaching agent ) and tretinoin ( topical retinoids).

The first step is to book an appointment with Dr. Fay. Dr. Fay is a General practitioner with a special interest in dermatology and cosmetic treatments. She has a Diploma and Masters in Dermatology. You skin will be examined and assessed and you will be advised which is the best approach to treat your acne scarring.
