Dark Eye Circles / Tear Trough

What is a Tear Trough?

The tear trough describes the development of a hollow and sunken appearance around the eye region resulting in tired looking eyes and dark circles.

By filling this area with a dermal filler the dark circles and hollows are dramatically reduced making the eyes look brighter and rejuvenated. During the procedure, small droplets of Restylane are placed very deeply within tear trough area, massaged and sculpted into place. Tear trough treatments are suitable for anyone who feels that they look tired and drawn with obvious dark circles.

Tear trough treatments explained
A fine grade hyaluronic filler is injected into the deeper part of the Tear Trough (not in the dermis) using a cannulae or blunt needle as opposed to sharp needles. This relatively new technique makes tear trough treatments safer. Cannulae reduce the risk of injecting into a blood vessel and therefore bruising. The blunt needle is inserted through a tiny hole made with a sharp needle. It results in less bruising, swelling and as a result less downtime. In short, there is less downtime and you can resume normal activities straight away.

After the treatment the tear trough area looks more rejuvenated and flatter eliminating dark shadows.
Risks with the Tear trough treatments
Bruising is the most common side-effect. The incidence of bruising and swelling may be reduced using blunt needles called cannulae. It is advisable to avoid excessive facial expression and for 1-2 days after your treatment.

Price of tear trough treatments
The cost is from 300 euro. Usually the desired result is achieved in one treatment, in some cases a second treatment may be required 4-6 weeks later. During your second visit you may require additional product to the area to ensure a full correction is achieved.

The treatment explained
Topical anaesthetic can be applied prior to the procedure if required. The use of cannulae when treating the tear trough area greatly reduces pain and discomfort.

Bruising may occur which can last up to 2 weeks however this is very rare. Occasionally swelling and redness occurs but this will resolve within a few days.

Results are immediate and once the initial swelling has resolved the full effect is visible. The effects can last approximately 6 -9 months. The area under the eyes is reasonable static and this can cause the product to last longer.

Prices start at 300 euro for 1 ml restylane
